Babette Rothschild explains her new Autonomic Nervous System Table
The original 6-column table contributes a more nuanced and user-friendly understanding of the Autonomic Nervous System, including the integration of theories of Peter Levine and Stephen Porges.
A discussion of its principles and applications is detailed in Chapter 2 of Revolutionizing Trauma Treatment (paperback version of The Body Remembers, Volume 2). A copy of it is included as a full color insert in the book and the English version of this table is also available inexpensively as a laminated card or large poster from WW Norton as well as Amazon and online book sellers around the world.
The ANS laminated card is a particularly useful therapeutic tool. Use it, for example, with dry-erase markers (do not use permanent markers) to track your own or a client’s arousal variations throughout a therapy session.
