“The first goal of trauma recovery should and must be to improve your quality of life on a daily basis”

Babette Rothschild, Founder of Somatic Trauma Therapy

Somatic Trauma Therapy

Somatic Trauma Therapy (STT) was founded by best-selling author Babette Rothschild MSW LCSW in 1992 as a trauma recovery practice grounded in maintaining the physical and emotional safety of trauma survivors within and outside of therapy.

The principles of Somatic Trauma Therapy are rooted in supporting therapists and helping professionals to improve the quality of life for those they work with who have experienced trauma. The safety-oriented approach also centers, supports, and prioritises the well-being of the clinician while working with trauma and PTSD.

About Somatic Trauma Therapy

The Somatic Trauma Therapy training completely underpins my work. With a focus on improving the quality of life for my clients, and at the same time ensuring my own wellbeing and sustainability of my practice. I learnt a toolbox of techniques and resources useful to both my clients and myself. Unlike some other trauma therapy training courses, I came away untraumatised!
Babette is clear, open to questions, encouraging and while giving the unpinning theory, always bringing it back to the practical application.
